This recipe is a masala mix that can be added in any veg or non-veg dish to give it a little rustic masala flavor. Adding this vatan makes the dish taste so much better and saves a lot of time. We add this masala to Kolhapuri or gravy dishes. Following is the recipe:-
INGREDIENTS
4 big onions (I prefer red)
2 cups of grated coconut ( I prefer wet but some people prefer roasted dry coconut)
Salt as required
2-3 tbsps ginger garlic paste
2 tomatoes
METHOD
Slice and fry the onions until they become golden brown and keep them aside until it cools down.
In a mixer, add golden brown onions, grated coconut, ginger garlic paste, tomatoes and salt.
Add a little water if required and blend. Make it like a paste and it is ready to use!
I generally keep it in the freezer and use it as and when required after defrosting it.
